FIRST EXHIBITION

If you dream about to have a solo exhibition one day you need to take small steps first.

They always say that when you know what you want, things fall into place. Three months ago, I decided that I want to get experienced with exhibiting my work in 2020. One morning I received an email in my inbox that invited me to join the Parallax Art Fair in South Kensington. I took this as a sign to take my first step and was excited to try this.

Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 February
11am - 5pm, Kensington Town Hall, W8 7NX
Tickets are free:
SaturdaySunday
You will find me at H11.

I’m not only an artist, I also have a day job, I socialise with my friends and workout. I believe that some of us ‘working artists’ procrastinate things and use the excuse of not having enough time because we work from 9-5. We can however push ourselves, with or without a day job, with or without a lot of extra time. Taking small steps and participating in a weekend art fair with only two pieces is a great start in my eyes. I’m not afraid of not being perfect or not having everything sorted out. I’m very excited to explore this opportunity and learn for my next exhibition event.

MY TIPS/WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU AS AN ARTIST:

  • look out for small art fair or group show opportunities & join

  • get your artist statement ready & update your website

  • learn how to hang your work yourself

  • learn about pricing your artwork

  • network and get feedback for your work

  • learn more about the people who love your work and who buy your work

  • take all the learnings and apply them for your next event

Colouresko Artwork

Vision 2020

My work is been created digitally with an iPad and an app called Procreate. The tools give me the freedom to create art on the go, whenever and wherever I want to. The fashion world is my main source of inspiration; once a picture grabs my intention, I draw my own version of it. With my current project Vision 2020, I aim to go on a trip around the world in order to draw all types of beauty. I’ve been fascinated by faces and portraiture since my teenager years and developed an appetite to create a whole series of drawings. I love to immerse myself in different cultures and discover the stories behind each face while embracing that everyone has a different understanding of beauty. Living in London I’m fascinated that I can meet the entire world here. I invite the viewer to join me on a trip to all continents, starting with Africa. I envision a world in which we don’t judge each other because of our looks or differences. With this colourful series of portraits I’d like to unite different cultures, bring us closer because we are one world.
