BE A MUSE
One thing that I believe is somewhat missing from our lives these days are those personal muses.
A muse like Picasso had back then to paint. Or a lover and partner muse like Frida Kahlo had back then. Don’t get me wrong, I think there are inspiring people still out there on social media. But it’s been more than ten years ago, that I found my muses online; for example, Garance Doré, when she was illustrating and writing on her very first blog (which no longer exists).
These days, it's kind of hard in a sea of sameness to feel really inspired by the influencers. I am looking for someone who can provide more than fashion and workout tips. Someone who inspires with thoughts, ideas, creativity, and being less curated and more real.
Those muses are not just role models but also people we really like to be surrounded by.
People we like to listen to.
People we like to be inspired by.
In short, people who make us think, we want to be a bit more like them.
“Be the muse you want to see in the world.“
This year, I added a few new illustrations to my 2020 Collection of Muses, created with the Procreate app and my iPad. I chose some powerful quotes by strong women, mixed in a few by men, and put them together in a book. I will go into print very soon, and I am so excited to add this book to all my other creations.
On the opening page, I said: Be the muse you want to see in the world. Stealing a bit of Gandhi's words here, this is a huge reminder to myself that if I cannot find a muse immediately around me, I have the power to be one.
So here it is - a book full of colourful illustrations inspired by beautiful women out there, and quotes that will remind us of our ability to be our beautiful selves and to do whatever we want to do. I want to create. I want to share my creativity with you.
